Perfecting your brows doesn’t have to mean shelling out for expensive products. In fact, I’ve found one of the easiest, most affordable ways to get that “laminated brow” look using a few things I already had at home.
If you’re into thick brows, defined arches, or just want a clean, polished look that lasts all day, this DIY eyebrow gel hack with Vaseline is for you.
Here’s how to make your own brow gel and shape your brows like a pro, even if you’re a total beginner.

Supplies You’ll Need
- Vaseline (or any petroleum jelly)
- Neutral eyeshadow pigment (close to your brow shade)
- Small mixing bowl or lid
- Spoolie brush
- Hair spray (optional but helpful for extra hold)
- Eyebrow pencil (optional for sparse areas)
- Flat or angled brush (optional)

How to Make DIY Eyebrow Gel with Vaseline
Step 1: Mix Your Brow Gel
Scoop out a small amount of Vaseline into a clean container or lid. Add a pinch of eyeshadow pigment that matches your natural brow color. Use your spoolie or a small brush to mix them together until you get a tinted gel.
Optional: Add one quick spritz of hairspray into the mix if you want extra hold. Just make sure it doesn’t turn it runny.
Step 2: Brush and Shape Your Brows
Using a clean spoolie, brush your brows upward and outward to shape them. This gives you a better idea of where to apply the gel and helps prep the hairs for product.
Step 3: Apply the Brow Gel
Dip your spoolie into the tinted Vaseline mix and apply it to your brows using upward strokes. Focus on shaping the brow as you go—this part acts like a gel and pomade in one.
Pro tip: If you have sparse or undefined areas, you can fill them in first using a brow pencil before applying the gel (see the image tutorial above for guidance).
Step 4: Define (Optional)
Want a more sculpted brow? Use a flat or angled brush with a bit more of your pigment/Vaseline mix to define the bottom line of your brows and create a soft arch.
Step 5: Lock It In
If you didn’t mix hairspray in earlier, you can now lightly mist your spoolie with hairspray and gently run it through your brows one more time. This seals everything in place.
Final Look
The result? Glossy, groomed, and on-trend brows that stay put all day—with zero flakes and no crunchy residue.
Whether you’re heading to work, brunch, or just want to feel put together on a chill day, this trick has you covered.
