Supplies You’ll Need
- Mixing bowl
- Pot with a lid
- Strainer or cheesecloth
- Mason jar or bottle for storage
- Spray bottle (continuous or regular squirt bottle)
- Refrigerator for storing leftovers

Ingredients for the Hair Growth Spray
Here’s what goes into this ultra-effective hair spray:
- 1 tsp fenugreek seeds (reduces dandruff, improves blood circulation)
- 1 tsp sea moss (contains 92 hair-friendly minerals)
- 1 tsp nettle leaves (rich in sulfur and silica)
- 1 tsp slippery elm (calcium and amino acids for stronger strands)
- 1 tsp basil leaves (prevents hair loss)
- 1 tsp moringa seeds (stimulates growth)
- 1 tsp cloves (nourishes hair follicles)
- 1 tsp dried hibiscus petals (optional but amazing for shine)
- 1 aloe vera leaf or aloe vera gel (soothing, promotes growth, and fights dryness)
- 2–3 cups filtered water
How to Make the Herbal Hair Spray (Step-by-Step)
- Prep your aloe vera
Cut off the spiky sides and ends, then slice it open lengthwise to scoop out the gel. Avoid the white latexy layer—it can be irritating for some. - Combine herbs
Add all your dry ingredients (herbs and seeds) into a mixing bowl. - Add to water
In a pot, bring 2–3 cups of water to a boil. Once it’s boiling, turn off the heat. - Steep, don’t boil
Add the herb blend and aloe vera gel to the hot water. Cover and let it steep for 5 hours minimum (or even up to 24 hours for a stronger infusion). - Strain it
Use a fine mesh strainer or cheesecloth to separate the liquid from the herbs. Pour the liquid into a mason jar. - Bottle it up
Transfer the herbal infusion to your spray bottle of choice. Store the rest in your fridge for up to 2 weeks.
How to Use This Hair Growth Spray
There are so many ways to use this herbal mist:
- Direct-to-scalp refresher: Perfect for protective styles or rod sets—just part your hair and spray directly on the scalp. Massage it in.
- Wash day pre-poo: Apply before shampooing to hydrate and prep your strands.
- Daily or midweek refresh: Use it as a leave-in between wash days to keep your scalp nourished.
- Style support: Use as a lightweight mist to prep your curls before styling.
Pro Tip: Avoid using it on your actual curls if you’re rocking a rod or twist set. Just spray the scalp to avoid frizz.

Why I Stopped Using Oils
This spray replaced oils in my routine—and here’s why. Oils were clogging my pores, causing itchiness and even dryness.
A stylist once told me: if your scalp is itchy, it doesn’t need oil—it needs to be washed or hydrated. That tip changed everything.
Since switching to this spray, my scalp feels clean, my curls stay bouncy, and my hair has been growing faster than ever.
I even keep it in a squirt bottle for direct application and a spray bottle for all-over misting.
